Biography
Mark Lapwood, an acclaimed cinematographer with over 25 years of professional
experience, has made his mark in feature films, documentaries, television commercials and
music videos.
Mark earned prestigious accreditation with the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS)
in 2006 and the New Zealand Cinematographers Society (NZCS) in 2021.
Mark's cinematography is characterised by a keen eye for natural beauty, capturing the
essence of story through people, landscapes, architecture and wildlife in a unique and
appealing way. He has an eye for crafting compelling visual narratives, weaving together
sequences that convey powerful cinematic storytelling.
Marks debut short film as Director/DP, ‘Eclipse’ shot on the streets of Mumbai (Bombay),
premiered at Tribeca and screened at festivals worldwide taking a haul of awards including
Gold at the ACS awards, and a prestigious AFI award in Australia.
Mark has spent 15 years developing expertise in timelapse motion control filming. He loves
'seeing the unseen', showing dramatic changes in natural light and the evolution of nature’s
processes using this specialisation.
Industry giants like Netflix, National Geographic, Discovery, BBC, UK Channel 4, SBS, and
the NZ Film Commission have entrusted Mark with their feature and series projects.
Mark is based in Auckland, New Zealand and works worldwide.
